Just another...

...migraine Monday... who-oh-oh... What? That's not how the song goes? Oh. Right.
It seems I'm allergic to the world now. I guess that's a good thing for a Christian right? We shunt of this world's tentacles as best we can in our daily lives but to be allergic to it causes problems. Most namely my headaches which as of late seem to skip the hours long headache step and go right to the kidney punch of the migraine. And we're talking a thirty-hour one and about eight in the last three weeks.
I've attacked it with everything that I can think of from medication to sleep to good ol' fashioned prayer but they still won't die.
That's sort of like in an action movie when the good guy shoots the bad monster with an uzi. Then tosses a grenade. Then gets in a big honking tank and tries running over the darn thing only for it to go "rawr!"
So it's back to the drawing board this week to see if the doc has more answers. And hopefully to get new medicine as the last batch made me taste prunes and I'm certain that's not normal.
In the meantime... I will make a feeble attempt to thank my way out of a grumpy migraine Monday morning, won't you join me with Ann and the multitude of others this morning?

-creamy coffee on a parched throat
-migraines (grumble)
-Kaiya flopping over in a desperate attempt to cling to a few more minutes of sleep, girl, I understand.
-Kaiya's sleepy morning grin
-migraines!
-utilitarian grey work pants because I'm that kind of girl.
-chocolate. ('nuff said)
-sigh. migraines. yes. I will be thankful for them.

  1. I can't even imagine going through migranes that long and that often. I've had them, severe ones, but not like that. You poor girl. I will be praying for you, and I hope the Dr. has some answers for you. I smiled as I read your list. I know it was hard for you to include them in there. . . but good for you!

  2. Oh, Court - the hard hallelujah – the hard thank you for the migraines. I wish I could say I've always been sensitive to other people's pain – it isn't the case – I was once SO self-centered. Having the sleep thing that I have – the incurable insomnia for the last 15 years – my thorn in the side – it's taught me both humility, and compassion. And so, although I don't get what a migraine must feel like – I get how it feels – you know? And I'm sorry that you have them – really sorry. And I know that being a mom doesn't stop just because you have one. And Ann says, if we don't count our hard thank you's, were miscounting. So, from your migraine grumble Monday thank you list list my favorite is the last one. God bless and keep you and your whole family.

  5. Oh, that nasty migraine is one hard thanks! Great work putting it down 3 times!
I know these well. I know the 30 hour ones well. I wish I didn't...I still get them on occassion, but are so much less now that I have discovered some of my triggers. Trust you and the doctor can narrow down yours, too! for they are such a waste of precious time, aren't they...
    Hugs and hope to you!
    All for Him,
    Nikki

  9. I suffered with Migraines for years. At one point only Excedrin worked. I tried many differnt medications. It could be hormone related too. One think that could help is drink a lot of water. I know that my daughter says when she get low on fluids she will get a mirgraine.
Blessings to you and I hope you get better soon. I do know how migraines feel.

  10. Ugh - I got migraines in college and they are miserable. But I love how you still founds moments, reasons to be thankful for, to lift up your hands in praise. It reminds me of Corrie ten Boom and the story of her sister thanking God for the fleas because it meant the soldiers kept away from their barracks and allowed them to freely share God's truth. Praying you are better today!

  11. I am also a migraine sufferer. Yes, they can be brutal. Like you, they have multiplied the last several weeks to the point, I cried to my husband earlier this evening that this just isn't fair. Then I always think, things could be worse. I just try to think of it as a time that God is just trying to get me to slow down. Praying you find relief from your migraines soon. We do have a lot to be thankful for!
